Thanks for providing me with a copy of your latest Workers’ Compensation training tape created from actual surveillance footage. I have been using the original tape since 1988 and it is as effective today as it was then. I regularly offer fraud awareness presentations to our customers, both internal and external, and have used the Work Comp excerpt tape very effectively.

As you are aware, I am now dedicated to the Personal Lines Strategic Business Unit. This assignment precludes regular contact with members of your organization in that I am not as involved in the work Comp arena as I once was. However, I am in contact with our Work Comp investigators and know that you are still providing a first class investigative product to CNA. Your office and our Special Investigations Unit have had numerous successes over the years and I am sure this success will continue. I want to take this opportunity to commend you and your Phoenix Research Corporation team for the exceptional support you have given us in conducting major investigations for the Tribune Company over the past three years.

Most notably, you provided the factual information that directly contributed to our filing a $40 million civil RICO lawsuit against nearly six hundred New York Daily News pressmen and drivers who, we believe, participated in a scheme to defraud Tribune Company of millions of dollars by filing fraudulent workers’ compensations hearing loss claims. I wanted to take this opportunity to drop you a note to thank you for the outstanding service Phoenix has provided to us in the recent case which I tried in Brooklyn. The ability of your investigators to quickly locate an alleged eyewitness in a very dangerous section of Brooklyn, set up a meeting with him, and then interview him and tape the interview surreptitiously, in accordance with New York law, was most helpful in our ability to obtain a defense verdict.

Additionally, I wanted to compliment you on and thank you for the outstanding video surveillance tapes you were able to make of the plaintiff in the case we are defending in the Bronx.
